Production today

Today is production and I’m feeling a little nervous even though its going to be my fourth one in the past 8 years.

The production is basically a big play that we host and perform for all the grandparents and parents, we do this every 2 years.

The costumes we picked are turquoise and brown with blue hats.

Our purakau

Glowworms

In Waitetoki river there used to be glowworms until the council added a culvert and just like that they were gone

there haven’t been glowworms there for years.

UPDATE!

My class have just done the grandparents and I felt a bit anxious but in the end weeks of practice our class did very well.

Camp 2025

Day 1

On Monday this week we went to camp in the Whangarei heads at the Mt Manaia campsite on the way there we had stopped at Ruapekapeka for a little walk and a bathroom break. After an hour of more driving we arrived at the whangarei aquatic centre and played in the wave pool and on the hydro slide. We arrived at camp and started making ourselves at home after we had our camp quiz.

Day 2

After breakfast we had some activties such as a waterslide,  jumping off the pontoon, fishing and volleyball.

Smugglers cove was only a five minute drive so we arrived quickly but the walk was an hour and a half but was rewarded by surfing at Pataua south that went on to 6:00.

After getting back to camp and taking a quick shower we then played spotlight.

Day 3

We stuck to the activities for 2 hours and then packed up our stuff to head back home.

I found the dorms really challenging because they were so small.

I am grateful for all of the parents that helped and for the baking that was given and also the school that makes everything posable.

My narrative

My lungs burn as I sprint to the gate. Thump! Thump! Thump! My heart in my throat I glance at my watch 06:31 that’s it I’m officially late for my flight.

I knew I shouldn’t have taken that nap. I look ahead and the gate is coming in sight and luckily the boarding pass checker was still there I slam down my passport and ask “Is the plane gone yet?”

“No, not yet.”

I let out a sigh of relief, maybe today wouldn’t be that bad.

Scratch that it was horrible and as always I had an economy seat (because i’m not that rich and can’t afford premier.) which had little legroom for the 2 day connecting flight. To make things worse the lady next to me had a wailing baby and a very loud cough which made it impossible to take another nap.

“This is going to be a long flight.” I think to myself.

2 days later I arrive in Lisbon sleep deprived.

I barely manage to raise my arm to flag down a taxi to take me to my hotel where I ditch my stuff and hit the sack.

1 hour and a quick power nap later and I’m ready to explore Portugal.

My poem

Incy Wincy Spider

Incy Wincy Spider went up the water spout

Down came the rain to wash the spider out.

But through lightning, thunder and a drought

Incy Wincy Spider never came back out.

Out came the sun away went the rain

Incy Wincy Spider was never seen again.

As kids ran around the house with happiness and laughter

Incy Wincy Spider never got his happily ever after.

And this was the end

to our eight legged friend.
